We are happy to announce a free wreath recycling program for the holidays.
This simple act not only saves our small business in supply expenses from year to year, but reduces the overall amount of holiday goods that get discarded, reducing carbon emissions and creating a healthier holiday economy. According to a post by Stanford University, Americans throw away 25% more trash during the Thanksgiving to New Year's holiday period than any other time of year. That extra waste adds up fast, to 25 million tons of garbage. With our commitment to sustainability, we want to be sure the items we sell do not contribute to this issue. Many sites do not offer wreath and garland recycling services because of the many materials required to make them. So we've opened this recycling event up to all wreaths and garlands, even if they weren't purchased through us. Feel free to share this opportunity with your friends, neighbors and family. So how do we recycle our wreath or garland? Just return your evergreen wreath to the red gate on Wolcott Ave between Irving Park and Cuyler. You will see the sign on the gate telling you where to deposit the wreath. From there, we’ll compost the greens and recycle the spare parts, often saving what we can for next year's creations. NOTE: Wreaths and garlands only please. Tree recycling is offered at several other locations in the city. Click here for more info. Thanks for your support as always and Happy New Year! -Kasey & Linda, your wreath makers www.vivantgardens.com www.lindalaakedesigns.com Comments are closed.
